Committed to Equality

Committed to Equality Logo

The Discrimination Act 1995 was replaced by the The Equality Act which became law on 1 October 2010.

Six Sigma Limited has received appropriate training and has been duly certified as a 'Committed to Equality' organisation.

In relation to websites, The Equality Act 2010 puts a greater obligation on website owners and hosts to ensure that visually impaired visitors are not discriminated against.

Under previous legislation a website had to pass the test that it was not "impossible or unreasonably difficult" for a disabled user to access. Under the Equalities Act 2010, the bar has been raised to the effect that a visitor must not be put at a "substantial disadvantage", compared to a non-disabled user.

This website has been designed to ensure that it is easily accessible to visitors who are visually impaired:-

  • It uses ‘Verdana’ size 2 (10 pt) fonts in black / dark colours on a white background. This is the benchmark combination and also ensures that users with colour blindness are not disadvantaged.
  • All images on this website are supported by ‘alt text’.

Instructions for increasing font sizes are:-

In Microsoft Internet Explorer:

1.      Click on "View" in the menu and Select ''Text Size''

2.      Select from the list of predefined text sizes ranging from ''Largest'' to ''Smallest''

In Mozilla Firefox 2:

1.      Click on "View" in the menu and Select ''Text Size''

2.      Click on "Increase" - and repeat again, if required, to make the text even larger

In Mozilla Firefox 3:

1.      Click on "View" in the menu and Select ''Zoom''

2.      Click on "Zoom In" - and repeat again, if required, to make the text even larger

Alternatively the text size can be changed in many browsers by holding down the ''Ctrl'' key and using a mouse scroll wheel to increase or decrease text size.
